Things I have tried: Rebooted several times, including cold boot Turned off the Sticky Keys and Filters -- rebooted Removed the HID keyboard driver -- it reinstalled on reboot Attempted to locate an updated MS or HP keyboard driver -- no joy Ran the Windows 10 Keyboard Troubleshooter -- it found no problems Physically checked the keyboard Ran the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows -- no problems Ran SFC /SCANNOW -- all the above were run as Admin -- rebooted Removed the battery, waited and did a cold boot -- put battery back in Did a “Repair Install of Windows 10” with an In-place Upgrade Removed the apps installed in the past 90 days All of the above failed to reanimate the spacebar, enter, backspace keys I am using the Logitech bluetooth keyboard I use with my Kindle -- it works. Rebooted again just in case... Still no cigar... I would like to get this fixed before upgrading to Windows 11.

Thanks for responding. The following updates were made since August 1st:
SAMSUNG Electronics Co., Ltd. - USB - 2.17.15.0
Successfully installed on 8/16/2021
Logitech - HIDClass - 1.10.79.0
Successfully installed on 8/3/2021
HP Inc. - Firmware - 4/29/2019 12:00:00 AM - 15.28.0.0
Successfully installed on 8/3/2021
Canon - Printers - Canon MX920 series Printer
Successfully installed on 8/3/2021
The one that seems most likely would be the Logitech HIDClass - 1.10.79.0 as the HIDClass includes the keyboard driver. Would "Uninstall updates" remove the offending driver without otherwise leaving the OS hanging?
The only other updates in the History since August 1st are two Quality Updates and the following:

Hi,
I'm having a similar issue that exists since a couple of days with my Elitebook 850G7 (see dedicated post in this forum).
However with me it's that the keyboard types two-phrase Letters when I'm trying to type a single uppercase B or N.
For me this problem exist since a couple of days. I'm suspecting a driver update via Windows Update causing this issue
.
Can you check if you had a driver Update in your windows update history recently?
For me I had an update for:
HP Development Company, L.P. - Extension - 8.10.14.1
on September 2nd and I'm suspecting that this caused the issue.
I wonder If you had an update with the same driver recently on your system.
Kind regards
TStav

Silly me! I was typing the reply on my Logitech keyboard, which is sitting on top of the Envy's keyboard.
The issue has not been fixed and continues to be a problem.
The affected keys are Enter, Backspace, and the Spacebar.
I am becoming facile with copying spaces and carriage returns, and then pasting them where spaces and carriage returns with Shift-Ins,

What actually fixed this problem was pressing the Windows Logo button and the space bar concurrently. I came across this suggestion somewhere and forgot about it. I don't know what it does on Windows 10, but the combination is reported in a Google search as not doing what it did previously, which is to change keyboard layouts.
A complete list of the keyboard shortcuts on Windows 10 is https://www.windowscentral.com/best-windows-10-keyboard-shortcuts -- who knew that MS had defined all of these. I must had inadvertently pressed the Windows Logo plus spacebar earlier. Sheesh....
