Hi,
Sorry for coming back late on this as I was traveling.
I tried all the options shared by you.
Randomly, the scroll and other multi-finger gesture options stop working. If I try to open Synaptics Touchpad App it doesn't open at the moment.
Another thing is that the pointer moves to right top corner randomly and mouse or touch screen doesn't work.
Please let me know the way forward. This is now quite frustrating.

Have you tried to use an external mouse and check if the issue persists.
Did you check if the issue persists in BIOS? if not I recommend checking if the Touch is working on BIOS screen (Accessed by tapping on F10 while restarting the computer).
If it works on bios, it's a software issue: please reinstall the display drivers, install the latest updates for the display adapters and BIOS, if the issue persists,
Did you run a touchscreen calibration test?
here are the steps to calibrate the screen:
-
In Windows, search for and open Tablet PC Settings.
-
Tablet PC Settings window opens. On the Display tab, click Calibrate.
Figure : Calibrate selection in the Tablet PC Settings window
-
Follow the on-screen directions to calibrate your screen.
Click Yes when prompted to save calibration data.
-
If the screen is still not calibrated correctly, undo the calibration by clicking Reset on Tablet PC Settings.
Figure : Reset selection in the Tablet PC Settings window
-
When prompted, click Yes to allow the Microsoft Digitizer Calibration Tool to make changes to your computer.
The Digitizer Calibration Tool window opens to confirm that the calibration data was successfully removed.
The best way to do that is using the HP Guided Troubleshooter:
Click here to access it (simply select your description of the issue from the bottom of the screen to gain access to the next set of steps that should resolve your concern).
Let me know the outcome!
Cheers 🙂

Hi Jeet,
I did get the BIOS update after the issue was observed. It is not possible to emulate the issue on BIOS screen as to reach there I need to restart the laptop and the problem is resolved when the laptop is restarted.
I see that the problem is prevalent when battery is low and we are working in Power Save mode. Although, the problem happens in Good battery condition & normal mode too just that the probability is higher in low power mode.
I have updated the driver multiple times and I can confirm that I have the latest driver installed right now.
The problem persists even when I use external mouse during the problem.
Any other suggestion from you?
Regards

I recommend you perform a system restore back to the date when the touchpad was working fine.
Follow the steps in the below article to perform a system restore.

Uninstall the touchpad driver from device manager and then download and install it from the below link and check if it helps.
https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
Here is how it is done.
- Type "Device Manager" into the search field to open the device manager console.
- Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
- On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
- When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.
NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.
