Hi @dnaj2000.,
Thank you for taking the time to share these details. I appreciate that you’ve already tried all the recommended steps, including BIOS F.22 and disabling Fast Startup. Since the issue happens randomly and only after long usage periods, it helps us narrow it down further.
Let’s try a few advanced checks related to Intel Ultra processors and power states:
Change the Power Mode to Best Performance
– Go to Settings > System > Power & battery > Power mode.
– Select Best Performance.
This prevents aggressive low-power states that may cause a half-shutdown state.
Turn Off Modern Standby (S0) - Temporary Workaround
– Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
– Type: powercfg /hibernate off
This disables hybrid shutdown behaviors that can hang on Intel Ultra platforms.
Disable “Link State Power Management”
– Open Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings.
– Click Change advanced power settings.
– Expand PCI Express > Link State Power Management → set to Off.
Certain chipsets get stuck when this feature tries to power-down PCI lanes.
Change Intel Graphics Power Mode
– Open Intel Graphics Command Center → System → Power.
– Set to Maximum Performance.
Intel GPU drivers sometimes keep the system awake during shutdown.
Check Memory Integrity Setting
– Go to Windows Security > Device Security > Core Isolation.
– Turn Memory Integrity Off, restart, and try shutdown behavior.
Some newer processors are showing shutdown glitches when this is enabled.
Let the System Cool Down Before Shutdown (Test Only)
– Try shutting down immediately after a restart, without heavy load.
If it shuts down correctly, this indicates a firmware power state conflict after long usage.
I hope this helps.

Hi @dnaj2000,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your HP laptop is not shutting down properly — the power button light stays glowing, especially after the system has been running for several hours. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
Perform a Hard Power Reset
Hold the power button down for 10–15 seconds until the laptop fully powers off.
Disconnect the charger and wait a minute before turning it back on.
Check Fast Startup Settings
Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
Disable Turn on fast startup.
This feature can prevent full shutdowns on some systems.
Update BIOS and Drivers
Use HP Support Assistant or HP’s driver page to install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
Outdated firmware can cause shutdown issues after long use.
Scan for Background Processes
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Check if any apps or processes are stuck and preventing shutdown.
End those tasks before shutting down.
Run Windows Power Troubleshooter
Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
Run the Power troubleshooter to detect and fix shutdown problems.
Check for Windows Updates
Install the latest updates from Settings > Windows Update.
Updates often fix power management bugs.
Test in Safe Mode
Restart and boot into Safe Mode.
Try shutting down from there.
If it works, the issue is likely caused by a third‑party driver or software conflict.
I hope this helps.

I have already done all the procedures you have suggested. Win 11 and all the drivers from HP is up-to-date. Latest BIOS F.22 also updated. Hard Power Reset done 2-3 times. fast startup and WiFi power management also disable. Only task manager checking is not possible bcz during that time screen is off but only power button is glowing. In case of 5 shutdown it shutting down normally with off the light of powerbutton 3-4 times but 1-2 times system close the other process as screen is off, speaker is off but only power drain through the power button light is on. Even pushing the power button not startup the system, it needs to press down the button for 5-6 second and then it off and again one push of the power button start the system. It means I have to force shutdown the system even my screen does not show any response. It seems HP BIOS is not up to date with Intel core ultra processors or motherboard. I have already talked with a HP assistant but he con not able to solve the problem. It's my mistake to buy the HP laptop.

Hi @Kuroi_Kenshi,
Thanks for your suggestion! I tried disabling PCI Express > Link State Power Management as you advised, and it’s been working fine for the past 3 days. Hopefully this will sort out my laptop’s shutdown issue. Appreciate your help!
