I have an HP Pavilion Notebook with SKU: 4WC97PA#ACJ, and I want to upgrade the storage.

  1. Does this model support NVMe SSDs via the M.2 slot, or is it restricted to M.2 SATA SSDs only?
  2. If NVMe is not supported, would installing an M.2 SATA SSD or a 2.5" SATA SSD work as an upgrade option?
  3. Are there any specific recommendations or limitations I should be aware of regarding SSD compatibility?

Looking forward to any suggestions or official documentation that can guide me on the right upgrade path. Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for confirming that my HP Pavilion Notebook supports NVMe SSDs. I have a question regarding the installation: I noticed that the M.2 port is oriented in such a way that the NVMe SSD chipset would be pointing downward when inserted. Is this orientation acceptable for proper functioning? , or might it cause problems for my laptop? I just heard it might ruin my laptop if the chipset is facing downward  but I am not sure though, so could You confirm me about that.
I will attach some pictures for reference.

Thank you for your assistance!

You're very welcome.

It shouldn't matter as long as the drive fits in the slot.
