Hi, yesterday i opened my laptop to add a new hdd into the empty space, but i noticed that there isn't a slot of some kind, just an empty space with a cable space near with SATA written on it. The problem is that i want to spend the least amount of money as possibile, and given all the results that i found on the internet, it's hard to pick one (that could even be incompatible). So, can you help me?

thanks

First off, most people here that offer help volunteer their time which means you may not get an instant response to your question. In looking at the maintenance guide for your device it appears that you likely have an NVME solid state drive in a dedicated slot and next to that a place to install a more standard style SSD hard drive or standard platter drive  with a SATA connector. If your unit did not come with a SATA drive already you will need to purchase the interface cable and possibly the correct isolation mount. Refer to page 48 of the Maintenance Service Guide. Part number for the cable is L18218-001.

Okay, first off i want to apologize for my post but i didn't know this forum was made up by volunteers, I came  here by the HP app on the laptop. I want to also thank you for your response. Now on my question: do you think I only need that sata cable you mentioned or should i get the "rubber hard drive insert" as mentioned at page 48 (it also says "for use in models without a hard drive" cause my model didnt have any).

After a bit of searching i found out that in order to properly keep the drive in place i need that rubber sleeve. The thing is, it's really hard to find it and it's quite pricy for a simple rubber part. Can I adopt another similiar solution?
