Hi all,
I need to upgrade the wifi adapter in this laptop to one with bluetooth, but I can't find the list of supported WIFI/BT adapters.
If someone can post a link to the dv5-2077cl maintenance and service guide, that would be great!

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
Since the notebook has a BIOS whitelist, it may not be possible to install a different model Wi-Fi adapter.
Chapter 3 has the list of supported Wi-Fi adapters with their HP part numbers.
You must buy an adapter that has the HP part number, or it definitely won't work.
None of the Intel cards would be supported since your notebook has an AMD processor, and I don't believe any of those have Bluetooth anyway.
I think you would be better off buying a USB Bluetooth adapter, or if it is not too hard to take the notebook apart, see if it will support the HP Bluetooth adapter and cable also shown in chapter 3, page 24, item #6.

Awesome! Thanks.
Looks like these broadcom and ralink adapters should work. They're under the heading of "For use on all computer models".
Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and 2070 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo Adapter 600370-001
Ralink RT3090BC4 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo Adapter 602992-001
I didn't realize the intel adapters only worked with intel systems, so good you mentioned that.
I would be happy with a USB bluetooth adapter, but the friend I'm upgrading this for, already tried a USB adapter and couldn't get it to work more than 2 feet away. My attempts at convincing him that a different usb adapter would work better and his was probably just either super cheap or defective were unsuccessful, so I'm stuck trying to get an internal adapter for it. Granted, I didn't try very hard to convince him, but it was obvious that it wasn't going to work.
I took the notebook apart and found where the bluetooth adapter should connect, but there's no connector there. Just the silkscreen marking. Not even any solderpads. Strange that they would put the silkscreen markings when there weren't even any traces running there for the BT.
Thanks for the answer. Hopefully one of those 2 adapters will work. At least they're cheap.

You're very welcome.
Yes, that is encouraging if there was no way to connect the internal BT adapter.
That would seem to indicate to me that the standalone HP BT adapter with the cable was not supported in that notebook.
That could also mean that one of those 2 combination Wi-Fi/Bluetooth cards may work as long as the whitelist permitted other WLAN cards other than the Atheros one it came with.
