HP Laptop - 14-dk1022wm
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello

I have a HP model 14-dk1022wm and I need a docking station for it.  Can you help me find the right model?  Is HPthunderbolt dock 120w g2 the one?

Thanks

I believe that the lack of a thunderbolt 3 port in the laptop is going to be the roadblock that makes your project not viable without replacing the notebook.

As a cost saving measure you can buy certified refurbished notebooks that do have that feature and better graphics that the laptop you already have.

With the correct laptop you can use the docking station that you already purchased. That should be able to make the design project  a reality.

That is just my opinion. There may be a a workaround that I am not aware of.

These are the ports your laptop has.

1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate; 2 SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate; 1 HDMI 1.4b; 1 RJ-45; 1 AC smart pin; 1 headphone/microphone combo

HP Thunderbolt dock 120w g2 needs a thunderbolt +  power delivery port. so it is not compatible with your laptop.

I suggest checking different docking station manufacturers specifications to find one that has compatibility with your laptop.

Hello Erico

Thank you for your reply.  Before receiving your answer, I had purchased from Amazon an HP Thunderbolt Dock 120W G2 docking station, and you are right, nothing happens.

Do you know what would be the docking station for my laptop?  Do you know where to look for it?

Thank you for your help.

I think that the best you can do is use a KVM switch. I am not aware of any that are compatible with your laptop.

With a KVM switch you can connect your laptop to an external display mouse and keyboard.

Here is a selection on Amazon.

Good day Erico

Thank you for your help and guidance setting up my daughter's equipment.  Let me tell you what I am trying to do, and perhaps you can recommend me the best option possible.

We have her HP Laptop, 2 HP monitors that can be connected through HDMI or DVI, and she has a Wacom Cintiq 16 Creative Pen Display (or like I like to call it, a very nice Drawing Tablet).

Besides the connections from the monitors (2 HDMI to HDMI or 2 DVI to HDMI), the tablet needs 1 more HDMI and a USB connection.  There is a keyboard with a USB and a wireless mouse with USB-C.  And 2 more USB for 2 printers (Label and regular printers), which could be just one and we just plug and unplug.

My desire for her is to connect her laptop and the tablet to the 2 monitors.  I do not know if I'll use the right working, but, One monitor is to mirror the tablet, and the other one to mirror the laptop.

I can use the HDMI and USB port in the laptop to connect the tablet, but I can't connect the monitors (therefore the reason I was trying to use a docking station to the USB-C).  But it doesn't work.

Please offer me your guidance.  Thanks

Sergio

Thank you very much for your help and support.  I will try to find a work around.  The laptop was the Christmas gift from a year or so ago, and it was precisely into those specs because a software she has.

I will work on getting a HDMI splitter mixed with USB A connections.  Like you said, maybe a KVM switch can help.

Thank you and have a great day
