You may not believe this but...
I lost my laptop battery in an inland tsunami caused by torrential rain--- a 5 foot high wave hit my house and washed almost everything I own away, including my dead laptop battery that I had removed that day to get a replacement. Incredibly, the laptop survived on top of a bed's mattress that floated on the wave.
So now I'm having enormous problems finding what battery I need. I chatted with HP and two help agents both gave me the ssame WRONG solution that is far to wide to fit my laptop. I'm not sure what I can tell you as serial number is apparently something I shouldn't give. The insid base has several labels and there is a white label underneath the base but I have no idea if I should give any of the numbers all those labels show. So here is information that might help.
Notebook Model: 17-by0062cl
Size of battery space: 11 (w) x 8.7 (h) cm OR 4.3 (w) x 3.4 (h) inches (measurements are approximate)
Connector Position: The connector is mid-way along the right-hand side of the battery (NOT along a long side)
The battery space is of a similar size to the hard disk drive space.
To source and purchase a replacement, I need a valid PRODUCT NUMBER. But I also need to be sable to find an image so that I can see that the battery appears to be the correct size with the connector in the right place. I have taken photos of the battery space but apparently there's no way to attach them to messages here. I may be able to give more info if told exactly what to provide. (HP makes providing info unnecessarily hard as numbers don 't seem to have consistent names and their system tools give inconsistent results or don't work. For example, downloaded HP system tools identify the model as 17-by0061cl while the black label inside the notebook identifies it as 17-by0062cl. The product name field ON THIS PAGE auto-filled with 17-by0062cl but II can't remember how that ended up in my profile.).
This has been frustratingly difficult so many thanks in advance if anyone can hep me identify the correct product.

All the HP support agents needed to do was to enter either of the notebook's product numbers in the HP part surfer website to get the battery part number and description. They both use the same battery.

You can buy a genuine HP replacement battery from HP at the link below...$100.40
If your insurance isn't covering the damage, you may be able to find a compatible aftermarket battery on Amazon or eBay by searching by the HP L11119-855 part number.
However, for best results, I recommend you purchase the battery from HP.
There is no picture of the battery but the PartSurfer website lists the model series the battery is used in, and the 17-by model series is one of those.
