Need to access advanced BIOS settings.

My laptop has an HP 86B0 motherboard running Insyde F.04 BIOS, and the boot drive is a 1TB NvME SSD. I have added a WD Blue 1TB HDD in the 2.5" bay using an HP SATA cable.

The system does not recognize the 2nd drive in Disk Management, nor Device Manager. I have already made all of the suggested Windows Registry edits to scan the SATA port on boot up.

The drive works perfectly in an external enclosure. I probed the cable with a voltmeter, and there is no power being delivered to the connector.

I need to adjust the SATA settings in BIOS, but there is no such option. Not greyed out...it's not there. What do I need to do to unlock the "above user level" BIOS?

Tech support has been absolutely no help.

Sorry, but accessing Advaned BIOS option on HP PCs is not possible.

OEMs lock out the advanced BIOS options to prevent customers from making changes to options that can destabilize or otherwise damage the PC -- and then send it back for repair under warranty claiming they did nothing to it.

I know only SOME of the advanced options are risky, but it's simpler to disable access to ALL advanced options than to allow/disallow on an individual option basis.

That's the course of action that HP has chosen.

So....can a local HP authorized tech hook me up?  There must be a solution.

Super dumb. I have built so many desktops that I've lost count. Unfortunately the parts market isn't conducive to building my own laptop.

This is like buying a car but they only give you the valet key with the reduced top speed. I own it, I should be able to work on it. This is the whole reason "warranty void if sticker removed" is a thing. As long as you get an onscreen message saying that certain "configuration changes will void warranty, press enter to continue," this should not be an issue.
