Hi,

I have a laptop HP Omen 17w101nf.

After updating the BIOS version I had a huge slowdown in my laptop while starting up. It seems that it's due to this recent version of the BIOS (F.55 Rev.A), so how can I restore the old version ? Thanks for your help

That's exactly what I did and the PC still didn't detect the BIOS files on the USB flash drive.

If you click to expand the Revision History section on the F.55 BIOS update page, there are links to the previous BIOS updates.

If you can go back, you should just be able to run the BIOS file you want to go back to.

Thanks for your help. I did download the previous BIOS version and followed the entire procedure to create a bootable USB drive, but I can't boot from it to install the old BIOS version. Do you know why?

Hi Paul,

I followed the first step to create the BIOS recovery drive for the previous version ("F44 RevA" for example) even though it says "the BIOS update is not compatible with this device," I still continued to do it. And the USB drive was created correctly.

But when I go to the second step, which consists of booting with the "USB recovery drive," it doesn't see it and doesn't recognize it.

So it's impossible for me to recover the previous BIOS. Do you have any other ideas ?

Hi:

 

You don't boot from the USB drive; you have the drive plugged into the USB port and press the Windows key and the 'B' key at the same time when the notebook is powered off.

 

Then you power it on and hold the power button for 2 - 3 seconds while still holding down the Windows + B keys. the PC should detect the BIOS files on the USB flash drive.

 

If that is what you did and it didn't work, unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

Hello Guys.

 

I wish I am on the correct path for my concern about my BIOS. I have tried all the options and possible codes but it is not going through. This all started after I upgraded the storage. Any help will be appreciated.

The BIOS recovery with the key combination method (pressing Win + B keys) is a tricky operation to say the least. 

 

I did that several times, and from my experience, I can give you some suggestions:

 

I don't know how long you held the Win and B keys but try holding the keys for at least 30 seconds (my old notebook took almost 40 secs before the BIOS recovery kicked in).

 

Try using a different usb port.

 

Use older versions of usb drives (usb 2.0 or 3.0). Avoid a higher capacity like 32 or 64 GB, which may cause a compatibility issue with the BIOS recovery system that has a limited hardware support. A BIOS .bin file is only 16 MB in size for modern HP notebooks, so you don't need to use a large usb drive.

 

I use a usb 2.0 drive with a LED display light because when the BIOS recovery tries to read the usb, the LED light brinks rapidly. This way, I know the usb drive is working.

 

Also, you can try a hard reset before the BIOS recovery. See this article for how to do it.
