The HP is my main work computer, so I can't send it back, wait for a refund, and then buy a new one. I'd have to buy a new one, transfer data, and then send it back, and honestly, I don't have time to deal with all that AGAIN (since I've already lost so many hours trying to fix it, paying to have my IT people try to fix it, then getting the replacement set up, then finding out it was defective, too, etc., etc.). I did send another email yesterday asking for a contact in the legal department. I'm buying ignored, not surprisingly. So, I'm making do by using the arrows on the number keypad for the most part and praying when I have to use the regular arrow keys.
One of the reasons I haven't bought a replacement yet for the second defective one is that I can't find the specs I want in any other laptop. Before HP, I always had Dells, and then when I went to buy a new one a couple years ago, I saw that Dell had quit making what I wanted: 17", touch screen, with a number keypad. Then I found this one on HP's site.....and we know the issues which then followed. Anyway, if anybody knows of any other brand that makes a 17" with a touch screen and a number keypad, let me know!!!

EXACTLY!!!! You understand. I've already lost several work days dealing with it. I was offered a third replacement, but I don't want that. I have no faith a third one will be any better. I want a refund, but on my timeline, not HP's timeline.

I've just been informed that they have approved a refund. If its a credit I am not going to be impressed, because this was the best fit from their range, and I would be reluctant to buy another envy laptop given these issues until at least a laptop generation had passed.

Refund seen on paypal today but credit agreement still seeing as owing, so guess Paypal is still catching up. Its around £14 less than I paid, so maybe they deducted postage, or possibly the Power unit I forgot to include.

HP Envy 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cw0000
I have the same issue, mostly after scrolling down and keeping the key pressed, the keyboard just stops working.
This is what I've been doing to avoid losing work.
Hibernate the computer with the power on.
Once hibernated after a few seconds, the power light is still on, I then unplug the power, the power light then goes out.
Plug the power back in and then press the power button, the computer comes back on and the keyboard is working again.
While this isn't ideal, I was hoping it was a driver issue and would be fixed on an update.

I'm not sure if anyone has tried this previously, I've turned on filter keys and updated the repeat settings, I just did this and scrolled up and down on a 1300 line page, it appeared ok so I'll keep this updated with the results.

This may be related to the orientation sensor built in to laptops with a touch screen. Try creating the following registry key:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\LocationAndSensors\DisableSensors
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1
Restart Windows for changes to take effect.

Apart from the key repeat been slow , nothing really. I did have an issue the other day on google sheets, the arrow keys appeared to be working as normal and were quick, I thought an update might have reset the switch, the speed on the arrow keys seemed to trigger the keyboard lock issue, once off google sheet it was back to the slow repeat.
