Same problem here on a brand new laptop.  Very frustrating that HP hasn't resolved this issue, since it appears to be quite widespread.

The only difference for me is I am using W11 Home version. Recently not only keyboard issues but sound and touch screen stopped working. HP customer service is zero help. I took it to an IT guy and he recommended reloading OS. I did that, have sound and touch screen back but keyboard still stopping and only reboot fixes it.
IT guy told me HP uses cheaply made parts for laptops. I will never purchase another HP laptop because this is SO frustrating!

My keyboard will randomly stop working if I use the arrow keys. Reboot does work.

Other issues I have - touchscreen stops working and starts working again randomly, speaker goes in and out. Machine is one year old.

I will never buy another HP Envy or any other HP product again!!!!! It frustrates me that on other websites the HP envy gets glowing five star reviews.

Trying to decide between a Dell or Lenovo laptop.

I have two of the same issues -

Until recently my sound went in and out.

Keyboard still fails, and this defo seems to be related to use of the cursor keys, I use MAME (game emulator) and Civilisation 2 - both of these rely heavily on the cursor keys and both fail consistently when used for a while AND pressing the cursor keys.

Because the laptop was within the 30 day return period, I have requested a replacement. Will be interesting to see what happens with the new one, as clearly not every single laptop is affected.

I bought a refurbished HP Envy here in Atlanta from MicroCenter and I have the same ongoing problem.  Luckily, I don't use my laptop every day but very frustrating.  One workaround that helped me a couple of times from losing my work was using the mouse to navigate to the "On Screen Keyboard" in Win11.  [Blue Windows start icon >> all apps  >> accessibility >> on screen keyboard].  I hope this helps someone.  In the meantime, I will try to stay away from the arrow keys.

Useful to close down apps before rebooting thanks... hopefully the new laptop will be better

So, in fairness to HP, the replacement process was quick and well organized.

Unfortunately the replacement has exactly the same issue - its very noticeable that when you use the cursor keys (in this case it happened very quickly 'without fail') - the keyboard stops working except for the power key.

A windows restart does NOT fix the issue, it needs rebooting every time.

It's a shame, I do like this laptop, but I've asked for a refund. I have never had this issue with a laptop before, so I can only assume its a design issue.

Same thing here - the keyboard on the replacement failed within two hours of using it.  I've gone round and round with HP and have finally given up.  They did offer to refund the purchase price, but I had a set amount of time to return the laptop, and I didn't have time to make that work with my schedule, (I'd have to shop and find another laptop, then allow time for the transfer of data to the new one, and I always have my IT people do that for me, etc.).  HP offered me a $100 gift card to find someone to repair the laptop....  So, I've basically given up, which is what HP wanted I"m sure.

I gave up when the replacement Envy 17 was even worse. Everything fine except for the keyboard, which is kind of... important. Tried all the software updates/BIOS etc.

NOTE: The keyboard tests all seem to be for a different (standalone?) Keyboard to the one the laptop has!! Bit of an own goa

l there HP... unable to test, although I don't think there is a point to it.

Luckily they have agreed a return and refund although god knows how long it will be before I get the money and can buy another laptop.

Its a shame, otherwise seems a good device.
