Cheyenne4,

Thank you for your suggestions. Yes, I am not that familiar with tech terms.

I tried both methods, but the file does not exist.

I still have the original mesasge from HP offering the new hardware diagnostics tool in my HP Support Assistant. Should I retry to download from there?  Or, is there another link from HP where I can access and try to download from there?

Also, is there a link to a HP site which explains this new hardware diagnostic tool?  The message sent to me from HP does not provide any explanation of it or whether it replaces or supplements the existing HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.

Cheyenne4,

Thank you for this link. It offers me the ability to upgrade the existing UEFI and the abilityto download the Windows version.

The same thing just happened to me!  I downloaded it and it's on my desktop, but it won't open.

GailP8,

If you can read the advise that Cheyenne gave me above, first verify if the setup file is in your computer and if not go to this link to install it directly from HP:

http://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/pc-diags.html

Download Windows version 1.3.0

I hope this helps you.

The program is installed on my laptop, it just won't open.  I tried to do it several times, even as administrator.  It should have already been on my laptop, according to what Cheyenne shared.

GailP8,

Maybe the file is corrupted and that is why it won't open.

Try Deleting the file and then follow what Cheyenne recommended to re-install it directly from HP with the link I sent you above and which version to download for your PC.

I uninstalled the program and installed it from the website and it works!  Thanks for your help.
