Hello HP-community,
I ordered a new RAM module (16 GB) for my HP-Pavilion 17.ab424ng from Offtek (Link), and when I install it the Notebook won't boot and the LED of the caps lock flashes 3 times long and 2 times short. I already looked up this error code and followed the instructions (which are mainly about re-inserting the new module) but this doesn't work. It does not matter if I use the new RAM module together with the already built-in one (8 GB), or just the new module. As soon as I use only the built-in module, the Notebook boots normally. I have already checked both RAM-slots with the built-in RAM, so both slots work properly. Some information about my Notebook:

Has anyone experienced a similiar problem/ can anyone help me out?

First thing is that you are exceeding the specifications of the laptop. Stated max memory is 16 gigs total so it is not supposed to be able to run a single 16 gb module. Having said that Intel Core processors 6th gen and higher that use DDR4 memory will run 32 gigs total or a pair of 16 gig modules. It is very possible the module you purchased is defective. This is really the only logical conclusion so I would contact the seller.
