Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I  have the HP Elitebook 840 G1 running  Winodws 10 where there is no Biometric device showing in Device Manager - see images

I also installed Synaptic Synaptics WBF Fingerprint Driver SP81058.exe downloaded from HP Support site -  But still

I have my windows updated, installed some drivers from the Hp driver pack support.
I even enabled the biometric in the group policy but to no avail.

Hello

the cases are two:

  1. as finger print reader was optional , your unit just doesn't have it.
  2. go in bIOS setup , pressing F10 at power on. once in BIOS setting , in advanced menu, search for FingerPrint Reader.
    1. in case you don't find it,  it mean it's not installed
    2. in case you find it, check if it's enabled
  3. if you are sure FPR is there , try lo load Factory Default BIOS setting and save it, but this may change some of your customizations.

bye

Hello

were you trying to upload an image ?

Bye

HP Recommended

Yes, I was trying to send an image.

this is what I found “fingerprint reset on reboot of present”

I don’t know what it means

there was no option to choose, enable or otherwise.

thanks

Hello

if you don't find it in Menu : Advanced/Build in Device Option , it means it's not installed in your unit.

it should be above "Integrated Camera"

Then what should I do ?

what driver should I download to fix it?

HP Recommended

if FingerPrintReader is not installed in your 840 G1 ,

there is nothing you can do about it.

Rember it was an option. so it could be there or not , it depend if that device was included in the factory.

bye

Hello Dragon-Fur,

the biometric device doesn’t show at all at the device manager section
