HP ENVY 16 inch Laptop PC 16-h1000 (754G1AV)

On this laptop, HP made changes to the sound card/firmware that wiped out sound in Linux Mint, my preferred OS.

HP Support Assistant goes through all the steps to load an updated F.22 BIOS, but fails every time, "Cannot open file."

Same problem reported by 5 others.  (Sound works fine on Windows 11)

Note: No Sound in Linux Mint 22 on HP Envy Laptop 16-h1055cl; cannot load latest BIOS ... is a dual-boot Win 11 / Linux Mint 22 system.  OEM bios is "Insyde F.20 - 3/14/24".  Sound works fine in Win11, does not work in Mint 22.  I FAR prefer Mint to microsoft.

Linux Mint Forums suggested this laptop would require Linux kernel upgrade to 6.9 (upgraded to 6.9.12), possibly Mint 22 (done).  Still no sound.  Attempts, using HP System Assistant through Windows 11, to update Bios (UEFI) to F.22; file downloads (four times, so far) successfully, "update loads successfully" for restart; upon restart, system gives proper evidence of the procedure to upgrade the bios firmware, but each time reports "System bios update failed" and then reboots with no helpful information.

    Any help welcome.
