Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I cannot access controls for the Synaptics touch pad. When I click on the Synaptics Touchpad in control panel it pops up an error: Unable to connect to Synaptics Pointing device driver.  The touchpad works fine, but I cannot access the controls for it. I have reinstalled the HP touch pad driver and nothing changed. I have tried to unistall the touchpad but I cannot access the driver to uninstall it. I would like to adjust the touchpad or even turn it off, but I cannot do that. It is hard to type when you keep bumping into the touch pad, and I use a cordless mouse.

OK, I downloaded and installed the previous version of HP Synaptics driver and the touch screen now is controllable.

Now I can wait for an updated driver to fix a problem that HP doesn't seem to admit, know about, or care about.
