I need help to figure out why my Thunderbolt 3 port is not working.  I have installed the latest firmware update from HP along with the latest drivers. Also, I updated the BIOS. I have run diagnostics which tell me everything is working properly. But, there is still no evidence of Thunderbolt Controller in the IRQs. Currently, the Thunderbolt 3 port is only able to operate USB-C devices. When I plug in my Thunderbolt device, it does not function correctly. It only shows up as a USB device. No where in the BIOS menu can I find where to 'enable' Thunderbolt Devices.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Is there anyone else here that has a Thunderbolt 3 port malfunction?

Your specs definitely say you have a Thunderbolt controller. Do you have a Thunderbolt Control Center app available?

Yes. But, when I open it, there is no connection to my Thunderbolt device.

I have the Zbook 15 G3. In the BIOS is a group of settings called Thunderbolt security. Not sure that is in your BIOS but on mine you have to allow connection to Thunderbolt devices.

Yes. I've been told this before, although, the word Thunderbolt doesn't appear in my BIOS menu anywhere. I did update the BIOS as suggested. I can't help but wonder if I should revert to an older version that may have more control.

No the designed BIOS for your model series either has it or not, regardless of version. I would run an advanced specification analyzer like Speccy or Sysoft Sandra and see if they detect a Thunderbolt controller.

HP Recommended

Okay. I've got Speccy running. Where do I look for Thunderbolt?
