I guess the free Speccy is not that detailed. Sisoftware Sandra Lite (free download) does the job:

Its got to be a setting in the Thunderbolt apps somewhere.  I had to approve the connected devices in the Thunderbolt Control Center in addition to setting Thunderbolt security in the BIOS to allow connections

Here is my BIOS menu. No Thunderbolt in sight. Do you think I need to revert to older BIOS?

No way an OLDER BIOS will have MORE functionality.
