Hi Everybody,
I meet a Problem with the numeric section of my keyboard.
When I press 1, I get 14
When 3: 3,
when 4: 41
When 7: 7/
When 8: 8*
When 9: 9-
I have tried to reinstal the drivers for keybord, change the language of the keyboard, etc.
I have no Idea!
It works with others number touch.
Could you please give me an advice?
Many thanks

Hi Gaya1239,
Many thanks for supporting me!
I met this Problem about 5 months ago.
I have just follow the advices concerning the system update settings but no others change.
I found very strange that only the right side numerical part of the keyboard has strange mixed print. For exemple, if I enter "7", it prints" /7", for "8", the 2 following char are printed : "*8". "/" entered result with "/7" and so on.
Data of my laptop:
HP LapTop 15-dw3xxx
Memory size: 16384
ID Product: 4K1G4E#UUZ
Windows 11 Famille
Version 23H2
Build: 22631.4460
Kindly Regards
Have a nice day

Hi @TOF1976,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your numeric keypad may have a hardware issue or a setting conflict. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:
1. Test for Sticky or Damaged Keys
- Inspect the Keyboard Physically:
- Ensure no keys are stuck, especially Shift, Ctrl, or Alt keys, as they can cause unexpected input when combined with others.
- Clean the keyboard using compressed air to remove any debris that might be causing interference.
2. Check the Num Lock State
- Ensure that Num Lock is activated. If not, pressing the number keys may register as navigation or alternate symbols.
- Try toggling Num Lock on and off to see if the behavior changes.
3. Reset Keyboard Settings
- Windows Settings:
- Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region.
- Under Keyboard Layout, ensure the correct layout is selected (e.g., US-QWERTY or French-AZERTY, depending on your preference).
- Remove any unnecessary layouts to prevent accidental switching.
- Keyboard Driver Reinstallation:
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
- Expand Keyboards.
- Right-click on your keyboard and select Uninstall Device.
- Restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the keyboard driver automatically.
4. Test in Safe Mode
- Boot into Safe Mode to determine if the issue is software-related:
- Restart your computer while holding Shift to access the Advanced Boot Options.
- Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- Choose Safe Mode.
- If the issue disappears in Safe Mode, it may be caused by third-party software or keyboard mapping.
5. Disable Keyboard Shortcuts or Overlays
- Check for software that might override your keyboard inputs (e.g., gaming software, macro tools, or accessibility settings).
- Disable any active Sticky Keys or Filter Keys in Control Panel > Ease of Access > Make the Keyboard Easier to Use.
6. Test with an External Keyboard HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
- Connect an external USB or Bluetooth keyboard to confirm if the issue is hardware-specific.
- If the external keyboard works fine, the built-in keyboard may need repair or replacement.
Refer to this document: HP Laptop PC 15-dw3000 User manual
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
