Product Name : HP Notebook - 15-ac138nia
Product Number : P7T76EA#BH5
I have been facing issues on my laptop as the laptop is not getting updated to the latest Bios version that is also showed/viewable in HP Support Assistant. Attached Picture: ( https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cGUjzMuTFTHCDLTjH90I8Qqj93b9mK70/view )Hp Notebook System BIOS update (Intel Processors)
Another Issue is that the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics utility can not be updated on the laptop startup Bios .
I was able to use it once when I flashed the Utility to a USB stick and ran it, through it.
Last issue is not that much big of deal & even if it doesn't get resolved it would be okay.
The issue is, since I got this laptop that came with DOS OS I installed windows and till now I have not been able to see the HP Slash Screen that should appear when a laptop starts. {There was a laptop partition that had splash screen and some other files but still it didn't work}
Boot from EFI file option. Probably because I formatted it and just copied all the files back.
Hoping for the best & Thanking in advance.

Hamza Waseem

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to update the BIOS on your computer and also, the HP hardware diagnostics is not running.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
Have you made any hardware changes to the computer?
I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp96501-97000/sp96831.exe
Updating the BIOS should address the other two issues as well.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hi, I have added an 8gb ddr3l ram stick, total ram is 12GB now and also I had removed the dvd rom.
Nothing else had been changed.
when the setup runs and the laptop restarts the bios update process doesn't get carried out.
Also what i meant to say was that the HP hardware diagnostics option on bootup is of the oldest version and is not getting updated.
Best regards,

I recommend you remove the RAM and any other hardware you have added and they do the BIOS update and check if it helps.

@The_Fossette
I am not sure that flashing bios would work with removing the added 8GB RAM Stick.
If removing the 8GB RAM stick and then trying to flash BIOS update doesn't work, what should be done then?
Also could you tell about HP hardware diagnostics option IN bootup that is of the oldest version and it is not getting updated.
how to update that as well?

Hamza Waseem

If the BIOS is not getting updated even after removing the RAM then it needs to be updated at an HP authorized service center.
Download the latest version of hardware diagnostics from the below link and test.

@The_Fossette
I have tried flashing bios version f.27 on my laptops f. 26 by insyde by removing the extra 8Gb ram & with only 4gb ram in Memory Slot 1
After restart it didn't show the Bios update screen and it normally booted.
Could it be that my laptop isn't supported for this bios update? As in hardware product models I can see Hp notebook 15g & 15q and Hp 250 & Hp 256 G4 Notebook PC.
There is no authorised Hp service repair centre in my area of residence in Lahore, Pakistan 🇵🇰.
Can't it be done whilst using a USB or such?
Can you guide me about that?
Regards.

@The _Fossette Attaching below the image of system information that shows up by pressing F1 when system starts
I have gone over and checked on HP's official download page, there are few bios version installs missing,
Wouldn't this be causing an issue whilst installation of direct much later version of updated BIOS as some versions are missing?
Bios updates available on HP Software and drivers for HP Notebook - 15-ac138nia :
