Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Out of the box, if its under any load at all playing back video or processing video when the fan spins up it produces a high pitched whine (like causes dogs to gather type high pitched). Support checked the BIOS and is sending out an exchange. Hope its new and not somone elses problem child they "refurbished". Guess we'll see.

Support sent my band new note book back, well its been cracked open I guess its still "new" right? The fan still whines under load. It is slighly better I think, but gets your attention everytime it spools up. Guess this is a "feature not a defect", a phrase we use in the car industry when we come across something that is not so bueno and we cant fix. I think this feature is made worse by the design of the fans exhaust outlet which seems to be along the back of the base and faces the screen. This bounces the sonic whine off the screen right back into your face. If the outlet faced downward or sideways it might help. Now what...earplugs?

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

Cheers.
