Pavilion G7 2341dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a notebook HP Pavilion G7-234dx (Product D8X74UA#ABA) and it has this processor: AMD A8-4500M 2.8 GHz/1.9 GHz, 1600 MHz/4.0 MB L2 cache, DDR3, quad core.

I would like to upgrade the processor but Im not sure which is the maximum model I can put in this notebook. Would you please help me?

*I already upgrade the RAM to 8GB and HD to SSD. The last upgrade is the processor.

Thanks in advance

Hi i found in the service manual that the highest power processor for your laptop is an AMD A10-4600M and the part number is 683046-001.  It does appear that the processor is upgradable.

You have the second best possible processor. This is the best you can install on that motherboard:

AMD A10-4600M processor (3.2 GHz/2.3 GHz, 1600 MHz/4.0 MB L2 cache, DDR3, quad core, 35W)

This is a dropin replacement for your processor.

I generally advise against laptop processor upgrades but in this case you would get a .4 ghz jump in clock speed and an upgrade in the video processor as well because this is an APU and the video is processed on the processor chip. And the processor is not overly expensive. You can reuse the same heatsink/fan.

So post back with any more questions.
