Dear HP,

I spoke to your parts  people last week and they were going to forward this inquiry to someone else, to answer my question.  I have not yet received a call-back.

Q1)  Do you sell spare charger plugs for the HP 345 G6 notebook

Q2)  If not, is the charger plug a patented design, or is it readily available in electronics suppliers?

Q3)  What are the ID and OD of this plug?  I don't have vernier gauges, but the OD seems to be ~~4 mm, and the ID something between 2 and 3 mm.

Background.

I previously had an HP Folio 13” notebook.           In my travels I visited areas with poorly controlled electricity supplies, i.e. voltage spikes were common and frequency was variable. Rather than expose the charging circuitry of the notebook to that, I purchased a 97 WH Li-ion battery, charged it from this variable mains supply, and used the Li-ion battery to charge the notebook. But I found none of the socket tips supplied with the battery fitted the notebook.           One of them had the correct ID, but the OD was about 0.8 mm too small. I obtained some aluminium conductive adhesive tape and built up the diameter to the correct size. That solution is less than satisfactory - I have had tape come off inside the charging socket and cause sparking.

A much better solution would be if you can tell me whether you can supply me with a socket tip, and I will get the other end that goes onto the output cable from the battery. Or I can get the tip from an electronics supplier if it is not an HP patented design.

@Huffer  might have some ideas on that when he is online.

HP,

Something is drastically wrong with your forum.

You have now sent me 2 replies that are totally unrelated to this question.

Can someone please read the question and reply?
