I was trying to view files in my microSD card using my HP Pavilion 14-v124ca notebook, so I put the microSD card in an SD adapter and inserted it. However, after inserting the SD adapter into my notebook nothing happens, and to be sure that the problem is not with the microSD card or the SD adapter I tried with another microSD card in another SD adapter and the problem persists. According to the user manual, it should be able to read SD cards, as you can see here:
I tried looking in Device Manager for the SD card driver but I couldn't find it, here is a screenshot of where I think the driver should be:
Is the problem that my laptop cannot read microSD cards, only SD cards, or am I missing a driver for this, or is the problem something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated

The microSD card is not being read because the SD card reader driver is not installed.
The PCI Device you see in your screenshot is the Realtek SD card reader in need of a driver.
If the driver that Banhien gave you is the right one, the PCI device will be gone, and the SD card reader should work.
If the PCI device still remains after you installed the driver, then it is not the right driver for the model Realtek SD card reader your notebook comes with.
Below is the correct Realtek SD card reader driver for your notebook if the driver that Banhien gave you does not work.

If you post the hardware ID for the Unknown device showing up in your screenshot, I will post the link to the driver you need for that as well.

Have you tried to use a REAL SD card (not SDHC, not SDXC cards) ? One more thing please try microSD cards (not micoSDHC nor microSDXC cards).
Updated: Probably your machine does NOT meet requirements for Windows 11 therefore no Divers for Windows 11. Please try the following driver
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp104001-104500/sp104205.exe
Hope this works. Otherwise you have to use USB card readers.
Regards.

You did not answer my question: Did you try a REAL SD card ? To see the driver works or not, normally we look at Device Manager is it ok ?
Regards.

Thanks a lot Paul, you're link solved the issue. Here is the hardware ID for the unknown device: ACPI\VEN_ASD&DEV_0001
Also do you know where I can get the SD driver for the HP Pavilion 15-n267ca? My other laptop has the same issue.

You're very welcome.
I have zipped up and attached the driver you need for the ACPI\VEN_ASD&DEV_0001 device, below.
You will need to manually install the driver as follows:
Download and unzip the file I attached to its folder.
Do not do anything with the files in the folder.
Go to the device manager, click on the ACPI\VEN_ASD&DEV_0001 device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver.
Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that you unzipped.
Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.
For the 15-n267ca, you need this SD card reader driver:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64226.exe

Thanks again for the download link and instructions Paul, I only have one more request. On the other laptop it shows in Device Manager under other devices a device named Bluetooth Controller, here is a screen shot of it below:
The hardware ID is PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_3298&SUBSYS_18EC103C&REV_00, thanks again for your help

You're very welcome.
Yes, that's a problem that you won't be able to fix.
That is the Ralink Bluetooth device in need of a driver and the device doesn't work on the newer builds of W10.
The driver produces a code 39.
I don't think it would be any different on W11.
FWIW, here is the link to the only W10 BT driver Ralink/Mediatek released to HP:
It's darn near 10 years old.
MediaTek (Ralink) Bluetooth Software Driver
11.0.761.0
There is a fix however, but it will cost you a few bucks to upgrade the Wi-Fi card.
If you want to do that, you can replace the Ralink Wi-Fi adapter with this dual band AC card if your notebook has two antenna wires connected to it.
Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo HP part # 724935-001
You should be able to find the card on eBay for a pretty low price.
It's an old card but everything should work on W11.
Below are the links to the W10 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers for the BCM card:
Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver (Windows 10)
7.35.351.0
Broadcom Bluetooth Driver
12.0.1.921
If you decide to upgrade the card, before you install it, first uninstall the Ralink Wi-Fi and Ralink BT devices and drivers in the device manager and check the uninstall driver box.
Shut down and unplug the PC remove the battery and install the Broadcom card.
After you install the drivers, Windows update should update the Wi-Fi driver to version 7.35.352.0
If you are interested, you can also buy one of these cards for your 14-v124ca (provided there are two antenna wires connected to the Realtek RT8723BE Wi-Fi adapter) it has as well.
The same installation procedures would apply.
Below is the link to the service manual for the 14-v124ca:
