OMEN by HP Laptop 15-ce0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have just purchased an HP Omen 15 (ce020na) and I wish to add an M.2 SSD and perhaps alternative RAM cards at a later date. To do this I must open the laptop etc, and remove the RAM when I must. Will this process void the warranty in any way?

In addition, any tips or advice I must take in doing this, although I have done this many times before, I prefer not to scratch a new laptop :smileytongue:.

Hi @DeVoiceID, Thank you for posting at HP Forum.

With regards to the warranty question, the warranty would not void by default if you open the computer or change the components, but if any issues happen due to the new component or when the computer is opened, that will void the warranty.

Here is the HP document for the Omen model that you have, along with the link for the service guide:

For more clarifications, here is the HP warranty information document: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00747726.pdf

Usually it is not recommend having the components changed, but it depends on the end-user also.

Hope this helps!
Cheers!

Thank you very much, this is really helpful.  Considering I only want to insert a new SSD, i doubt there would be any issue but I'm glad that opening the laptop at least will not void the warranty.

Now to figure out how to unscrew a screw which does not want to unscrew :smileywink:.
