My old DV7 is running with 2x4GB sodimms with the slot near the left side. Is that pc3 10600? 1,5v? I see pictures of DDR3 sodimms with the slot closer to the center, but they dont fit. Back in the day it was made, there werent any bigger sticks. Anyway to get 2x8GB into it? Paul T, you are the Man when it comes to old HP laptops.

Hi:
According to the specs for your notebook, it uses DDR2-6400 memory.
If it is running 2 x 4 GB of memory, then it is maxed out.
Your notebook's chipset and processor cannot support 16 GB of memory.
Here is the link to the parts list...shows DDR2 memory is installed.
