OMEN 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-en1000 (2T3A6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi

I bought a new OMEN 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-en1000 (2T3A6AV) 6 months ago. I use it to work and gaming with an external 34 UW monitor, mouse, keyboards and headset.

The laptop has always been surprisingly cool, even after hours of gaming without the needs of the fans to cool much or using a cooling base. However, a couple of days ago while watching Netflix on browser, the laptop turned off because of a critical temperature issue reported in windows event register. The laptop was very hot indeed, but the fans didn't turn on at all. I tried to play a videogame and, although the laptop didn't restart, fans were not active and the game performances were very low, probably because of thermal throttling.

The issue seems to be caused by the CPU as it reaches temperature of about 90 degrees. The GPU temperature seems ok.

On omen gaming hub, I've set the manual profile with the thermal curve (auto didn't seemed to work) and now the fans activate quite often.

When playing, they run at full speed (never happened), the laptop now is very noisy, and I still experience low performances in game probably because of throttling.

Given the sudden appearance of the issue I don't think it is a hardware problem. I noticed the issue started right after windows 11 downloaded (not installed) the first cumulative update. Trying to solve the problem I installed the update and slightly later there was a bios update which I installed. The problem though still seems to be unsolved.

What could be the cause? Any suggestion? Thank you.

Hello @Emalude

You should know that especially new Windows builds contain bugs and are delivered to the annoyance of the users! It is always advisable to wait some time after the rollout until at least the most important bugs are fixed. Furthermore the question arises to me, which "actual" benefit you have to use Windows 11 ? I leave the decision to you.

Recommendation and solution

The solution is that there is no solution, only

(1) ... use Windows 10 or Windows 11 21H2

( Use <HP Cloud Recovery> or official Microsoft Setup to install Windows operating system )

(2) ... wait for new HP drivers and Windows update information (Microsoft)

(3) ... contact HP Support and ask for new driver updates

Kind regards

Hi @Ub6424

Thank you for your answer. Both tests passed with no issues reported.

As additional information, I noticed that while I use the laptop sometimes there is a strong lag that lasts for 1-2 seconds. After that, the fans run at high speed, then slow and stay on at minimum speed.
