Omen 15 2020
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

The keyboard on my Omen 15 2020 is really frustrating to use. The R and X key are VERY inconsistent to use, half the time I press them I need to press them again for them to work. And when I type in "re" it usually comes out with "er" which is due to this faulty keyboard. Furthermore, when I press left shift and x at the same time the X doesnt even register. This is extremely frustrating in games and has made me lose multiple times.

I asked virtual support what they can do about this but they said a erpair would cost £220! Even though I am still well covered under warranty and this is definitely a manufacturer defect. What can I do about this? I really just want a replacement keyboard but I can't afford to pay £220 for something that should be under warranty. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the keyboard is not working correctly.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Does this happen when you use MS Word or Notepad?

I recommend you contact support if you are looking for a keyboard replacement and they will assist you with the available service options for your computer.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Meanwhile, uninstall the keyboard driver from the device manager and then restart your computer and check if it helps.

Here is how it is done.

  1. Type "Device Manager" into the search field to open the device manager console.
  2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
  3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
  4. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.

NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
