My laptop is out of warranty, and this morning I noticed that the area to the right of the track pad where the battery is located had swollen overnight deforming the case.

 

I have seen numerous threads about this issue. Last year, HP did a battery recall covering defective batteries, but this model wasn't listed. What can be done?

As a quick follow up, I've checked the HP parts store, and the battery isn't available there - so I'm now really unsure what to do about this situation.

@spqrd I understand your concern and I will bring your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP.

Although, I'll need some private information from you in order to create a case for you.

Keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers, case details, etc...).
