Optical drive blocked

I have a F2B56ET extental OD that is now being blocked by windows as it has plug and play chip.

I have tried to follow some help on the community sit but I don't have the option to turn my Vulnerable driver blocklist off, it is greyed out as an option. I am the computers owner! I get an Event ID 3077  in codeintegrity, and have done all the updates to bios and window I can. Please help.

It is likely the block is caused by the software being used and not by the optical drive itself.

The driver is either unsigned, uses an expired digital signature, or lacks a strong enough reputation.

If using Nero, CyberLink, VLC, etc be sure it is the latest version.

I use DVDfab's PlayerFab as it can bypass many copy protection and region locks.

You might look through this and see if it helps

You may need to fully uninstall the DVD player / burner you currently use.  Let me know if there is still a problem.

Code Integrity determined that a process (System) attempted to load \Device\HarddiskVolume4\Windows\System32\drivers\UBHelper.sys that did not meet the Authenticode signing level requirements or violated code integrity policy (Policy ID:{8f9cb695-5d48-48d6-a329-7202b44607e3}).

This is the information I have, I have tried deleting the driver several time now, and repluging it in after restart, it's not working, Can HP release new drivers please?

UBHelper.sys Windows process is an old system driver file tied to NewTech Infosystems (NTI) software, like NTI CD & DVD-Maker or NTI Backup NOW! (frequently bundled on older Acer laptops via Acer Empowering Technology).[ref_1]
What is UBHelper.sys?

• Function: It acts as a low-level filter driver for CD/DVD and backup operations.

• Origin: Dating back around 2009, it is completely obsolete on modern versions of Windows.[ref_1]

• Safety: It is a legitimate file from NTI, but some antivirus programs (like Avast in the past) have occasionally flagged older versions of it as a false-positive or suspicious generic file (win32:EVO_gen).

Why are you seeing it?

• Blue Screens (BSOD): Outdated 2009-era drivers like UBHelper.sys and NTIDrvr.sys fail to gel with modern Windows updates, leading to startup crashes or Blue Screen errors.[ref_2, ref_3]

• Old Software Leftovers: The file usually remains on a PC even after the original NTI or Acer utilities have been uninstalled or upgraded.

How to Fix Issues

• Disable the Service: Open the Windows Run dialog (Win + R), type services.msc, look for any entries related to UBHelper or NTIDrvr, and set their startup type to Disabled.

• Remove the Driver: Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ and look for UBHelper.sys. If you no longer use NTI software, you can delete or rename the file (though you may need to take ownership of the file or boot into Safe Mode if Windows locks it).

• Check for NTI Software: Completely uninstall any legacy NTI CD/DVD or backup tools from your Control Panel/Apps list.

If you have backups of personal files and have serials for licensed software then do a clean install of windows 11.  Do not install any software that came with that external optical drive.
