Good evening comunnity. I´m the owner of a good HP EliteBook 840 G1 laptop which I have since several eyers now. REcently I tryed to upgrade it intalling a EXP GDC for install an external GPU, but it does not work. REading through forum I found something called "PCIe whitelist" which would it be a restriccion to prohibit install PCIe hardware not allowd in the BIOS.
My question is....is my laptop also restricted by this Whitelist?
Again my HP laptop is a HP Elitebook 840 G1 w/ a BIOS version: L71 Ver. 01.46.20/7/2018.
Thank you in advance.

Hi:
HP does not release any info on what notebooks have BIOS whitelists and which ones don't.
Here is what we know through experience...
All HP notebooks made in 2011 and earlier have BIOS whitelists.
A few notebooks made in 2012 do not have BIOS whitelists.
A few more notebooks made in 2013 do not have BIOS whitelists.
Most notebooks made in 2014 and later do not have BIOS whitelists.
Your notebook's PCIe slots support wifi (WLAN) and mobile broadband (WWAN) devices only.
As far as we know, they cannot be used for any other type device such as an eGPU.
