Hi GBL84 , Thanks for your response

I have been investigating about the procedure to configure the RAID1 when the SAS disks have information into them

The information showes that if we use ORCA F8 prompt  it is used before the operating system is installed

Does it mean that if we use ORCA F8 to configure RAID1 , we can lose all the information of the disks?

if so

Can we use the SmartStart CD  , boot the Server from  CD  and Configure the RAID1 offline and we can make sure that all the  disks information will not be lost

Is it correct ? or Could we do using the ORCA F8?

Thanks for your support

Best Regards

Hi GBL84 , Thanks for your response

Please could you support in the following questions:

1 - we have 2 HDDs with information , if we install a new SMART ARRAY CARR P400  would  we need to configure the RAID1 for that card , Is it correct ?

if so , we could do from two sources

a ) From F8 ORCA but according to the information it we use it we need to install the OS , Is it correct or not  ?  Is  the hard drive information  lost if we do this procedure ?

  b) From SmartStart CD and configuer Array offline , in this case  did  we lose the information of the hard drives ?

  Thanks for your support

Best Regards

Hi GBL84, We have found a link to get the smart cd for proliant server, when we link to the hp site to get it , it asked about Serial number and product number, I wrote down the information that we got when we booted that it is the same information that the sticker on the server but it is rejected , it is important to download the imformation , it looks like a mistmatch and I have not seen the mistake because I have used the proper information

Can I send to you the info to try to see if can get it

Thank for your support

Hi GBL 84 , Could you support in the following issue?

we have Proliant Server DL 380 GEN 5 , Windows 2003 server R2 SP2 and Smart Array P400 , we have RAID 1 configured , I have inserted 3 diskS 146 GB SAS  to  try to rebuild the second disk , it show the steps recovering , rebuilding , status OK , but after that  we have gotten 7 , predictive failure , according to my investigation , it could happen when the hard drives used as second hard drive for RAID1 have  more problem blocks than a specific  number of failed hard drives

the diagnostic is as follows

Drive Array Physical Drive Status Change : The physical drive in slot 2Port 2 bOX1 Bay2with serial number 3NM1PXJ800009741H1Y has a new status of 4 , 4= predictive failure, SNMP trap: 3046 in CPQIDA.MIB ,

IF we could format the hard drive that we install and the second bay ( I mean tha hard drive that it is going to rebuild ), or to use a new one ( I am not sure if all the disks  that we have been used before  it have  information into it )

I mean , if the disk is blank , could we avois it or if we could format then and then to insert in the bay2 then the node to rebuild the RAID1 , Could it fix the problem  ? or  do you have another idea?

Thanks for your support

Best Regards
