Pavilion 15-ck075nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I suppose Pavilion 15-ck would support for NVMe SSD. However, after I plug my new Intel 760p NVMe 256GB into the M.2 slot, neither the BIOS or Windows would detect it.

How can I check if it is a compatability problem? And how can I solve it?

Laptop: Pavilion 15-ck075nr

SSD: Intel 760p 256GB

Here is the solution: m.2 SATA SSD

I have tried all these 3 models but none of them worked:

- Intel 760p 256GB NVMe

- Samsung PM961 256GB NVMe

- Intel Pro 6000p 320GB NVMe (this is appalling because as long as I understand this is one of the SSDs used in official HP Pavilion 15-ckxxxxx)

Credit to @rmb0187, I finally grab an ADATA SU800 256GB and it works right away.

I suspect that HP has disabled NVMe support in my particular pavilion 15-ck

Hi @chuckmo

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.

I understand that you installed a Intel 760p NVMe 256GB into the M.2 slot and it is not getting detected by the Notebook.

I'd like to help.

As per the User guides your Notebook can support 24 GB mSATA solid-state drive with system memory up to 8 GB (for use with select computer models with Intel processors and switchable discrete graphics)

Click Here and refer to page 3 in the User guide.

Hope this helps.

Keep me posted if you need further assistance

Thank you. 🙂

@

Thanks for your help but I am afraid what you mentioned is not my model

Here is my model:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-15-ck000-Laptop-PC/17296798/model/18164837

You can also check the service manual:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05709135

In page 39, it shows that we can replace the SSD with the follows:

512-GB, M.2 2280, SATA-3, PCIe, MVMe, solid-state drive with TLC
512-GB, M.2 2280, PCIe, MVMe, solid-state drive
360-GB, M.2 2280, PCIe, MVMe, solid-state drive with
256-GB, M.2 2280, SATA-3, PCIe, MVMe, solid-state drive with
256-GB, M.2 2280, PCIe, MVMe, solid-state drive
128-GB, M.2 2280, PCIe, MVMe, solid-state drive with TLC

So I wonder why Intel 760p NVMe 256GB cannot be accepted

Hi @chuckmo

I apologize for this confusion. I do see that your Specific Model supports 256 GB SSD HDD.

Please click this Link and download the Chipset Drivers ( Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver & Intel Platform ME Firmware Update) and the BIOS.

May I know where did you purchased the SDD HDD from?

Let me know if the Notebook detects the new SSD.

HP recommends using only HP Tested Spare Parts mentioned in the User Guides since other Hardwares have not been tested with the Notebook and HP cannot guarantee that they will work.

Thank you

@

I have updated the chipset drivers, ME Firmware and the BIOS (F.07) to the latest version.

My Intel 760p 256GB still cannot be detected. It was purchased from a local retailer.

It is a real disappointment if HP cannot accept the newer generation of SSDs

Hi @chuckmo

I understand your concerns and frustrations. As informed earlier we cannot guarantee 3rd party Hardware upgrades since those parts have not been tested with the Product

I have escalated your concerns to HP’s Support Team to review your case. You should be contacted within 2 business days (this does not include weekends or holidays).

Thank you

Is there any updates about this? Have you managed to make it work?

@Naikou

No. I tried both Intel 760p and Samsung PM961. None of them works. They are now stocking up my cupboard.

Because of the HDD failure, I brought my laptop to the HP service centre. They replaced it but were reluctant to say anything about m.2 SSD.

Not the best experice of laptop upgrade.

Ahh... sucks to hear that.. well i hope they'll make it work now then.

I had to cancel my 760p order because it was out of stock from the supplier and it would've taken way too long so I changed the order to WD black 256gb nvme m.2 ssd.

I should be getting it next week and then I get to test it out. To be honest I'm a bit scared if I bought it for nothing if I have the same case as you...

Well then I can always put it on my desktop with some pci e adapter.
