My laptop is over 10 years old and is running slow with a lot of fan activity. I would like to keep using the machine until the end of 2025 when support for Win10 expires. A HP support technician suggested that swapping the hard disk for a solid state disk would probably help performance. My current hard disk is 1 TB, but I am currently using less than half its capacity. The part number for the laptop is J0D30EA#ABU.
What would be the best model replacement SSD to use? Are there any guidelines available for physically doing the swap for my specific hardware, including the cloning process?
Any advice would be most appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Hard drive replacement is on p. 105 of the Manual here:
A 2.5 inch SATA SSD is a direct drop-in replacement for the mechanical hard drive. The external dimensions are the same and the mounting hardware for the hard drive works for a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. Yes it will make the computer run much more smoothly and faster. Worth the upgrade. It might be a good idea after 10 years to do a clean install of Windows 10 and just transfer over your working files, or you can clone the old drive to a new SSD.
This would work:

Huffer, Many thanks - that was very useful. Now I just need to pluck up some courage to try the replacement !
Just one other question:
Is there a particular cloning app that is recommended for this? i.e. the most reliable and user-friendly.
Thanks again.
