Pavilion G6 1075sa CPU Upgrade

HP Recommended
Pavilion G6 1075sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After looking around the community and varying other forums...

While I have updated, via HP Support, my BIOS to version F.66 and seemingly have the max CPU for my model [intel i5 480m] PGA 988. I was wandering if there was a BIOS update or mod to allow my motherboard to accept [intel i7 2620m] which is also a PGA 988.  I know one is A and the other is B, however I would guess this is based with in the BIOS Coding.

Alternatively, is there another processor that I can use that goes beyond my i5 480m?

Kind Regard

Hi:

You can only install a first gen Intel dual core processor in your notebook, and as you indicated, you are already at the max.

It nothing to do with a BIOS update.

Your notebook has a Mobile Intel HM55 chipset, which only supports 1st gen core processors at the most.

Hi, Paul

I marginally suspected so... so I've renewed the heatsink paste, Installed more RAM and an SSD.  I'll probably look to upgrade my system if needs be.

Cheers for your reply and kind regards
