HP Notebook - 15-ay038ca (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This ssd reports half its size, refuses to format, acts like it is damaged and will not install Win 10 after numerous approaches and attempts.

A range of software tools booted from Hirens PE show a myriad of different responses to diagnostic testing..  Crucial has replaced it twice, and none have formatted or tested successfully...

The drive appears to install normally in my desktop L20 Thinkstation.

Any ideas? Is this a frequent problem with the Pavillion laptop?

Honestly, a laptop with an Intel® Pentium® N3710  and the associated chipset is an entry level device.

It may never meet your expectations of a laptop with a higher spec processor and chipset.

Use the HP Cloud Recovery to install Windows 10 after you have returned it to the factory condition.

I was wondering if it was a processor issue.  I re-installed a 500 GB Seagate hybrid drive which operates at sata 3 speeds, and the machine accepted Win 10 without a hiccup.  Thank you for the confirmation.
