Pavilion Power 15 cb006ur
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

In my Pavilion user guide it's said that laptop supports 4 finger gestures in Windows 10. I got my laptop from retailer with FreeDOS, so I had to install my copy of Win 10 pro to the laptop. Windows downloaded ELAN drivers automatically and touchpad now supports only 3 finger gestures. I tried installing latest Synaptics driver from support page, but it didn't help.

Could you help figure this out, cause I don't know wether it is a driver problem or my laptop didn't support 4 finger gestures from the beginning?

@romanzedd,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand you are having issues related to Touchpad gestures. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

Splendid effort and fabulous description of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.

After reading your post, I did go through the User guide of your notebook and found that it does support 4 finger gesture only for touchpad. So, let's try these steps here which should help you resolve this issue.

For a start please check in device manager if the touchpad drivers are installed correctly. Steps to do it:

Right-click on start>click on device manager>Mice and other pointing devices> check for Synaptics touchpad driver or touchpad drivers.

If it is installed, left click on it and right click on uninstall. Then restart the computer.

Now try to update the Bios and Chipset drivers and Trouchpad drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Thanks for the reply!

I've tried to perform actions you suggested me. Unfortunately right after deleting drivers for touchpad Windows automatically reinstalls ELAN driver after reboot. I installed HP support assist, and it had no suggestions for driver update.

I switched off drivers automatic installation in Windows, deleted installed ELAN driver and then after reboot tried to update driver via HP SA. It did not suggest any drivers to be installed.

I gave up on HP SA and tried installing latest Synaptics driver. So I downloaded both Synaptics drivers from support page, and tried to install them. Installation wizards of both drivers finished with error: unable to install. I turned drivers automatic installation in Windows on, rebooted laptop and tried installing drivers again - same result. After that I rebooted laptop and tried installing ELAN driver. After another reboot both touchpad and keyboard stopped working (somehow), usb-keyboard was not detected by Windows either.

So I had to roll back system to latest backup.

I reviewed your concern and the entire conversation, did some research and here's what I recommend:

Considering you've managed to roll back the system, Perhaps, its time you create a new user account and check if that works,
