Pavilion Power 15 cb506tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am planning to upgrade my Pavilion Power 15 cb506tx with an M.2 SSD, is my laptop support NVMe  or just SATA ?

If it support Nvme, will it boot Windows 10 in Nvme ? and what SSD should I buy ?

I heard some great review about Samsung 970 EVO and Samsung have a great deal in my country and I'm planning to buy the 500GB model, can it support that ?

Thank You.

The Samsung 970 most probably will work. If you want certainty try to find a Samsung PM961. Its a bit slower than the 970 and has worked with every HP laptop in which I have ever tried one. I have a couple right now running those NVME disks.

It can take a PCIe/NVME M.2 disk. Here's the Manual. This one says it is for the 15-cb000 models but HP posts it on your product Homepage so it also appies to your model:

Start on p. 35 to remove the back cover and inside you see this:

M.2 slot is red circleM.2 slot is red circle

The 970 Evo should be fine but HP would provide a Samsung PM981 which you may have trouble finding in your country. We see some compatibility issues on the 6th gen systems that support PCIe/NVME M.2 disks, less so with 7th gen and almost none with 8th gen systems. Yes your system will boot Windows 10 from the NVME disk and you will be very excited by the performance.

Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if its the info you needed.
