For several days, the laptop will cycle on and off in short burst and would not boot. I tried to fix this and after taking the battery out it worked yesterday. Today it worked for a short time (less than five minutes). The screen dimmed, as if it was low on battery. It quit, won't boot and it never charges. I have tried it in several power outlets to no avail. All I have now is a black screen and no power - and no computer. I thank you in advance for any help.

7 different series of the DV7 model line...what is your model number? When you removed the battery was it fully charged? Seems not from your post. I ask because the first thing to check is whether the AC adapter is putting out power. Do you have a power light on the chassis next to the power port? Does it come on if the AC adapter is attached?

Thanks for reply. When plugging in the power cord the light went from white to orange. This computer was given to me after original owner no longer wanted it. There does not seem to be model number other than Pavilion dv7. It originally came with win7. I've changed the hard drive after it crashed. Replacing it with SSD 2.5 SATA and loaded win10, 64 pro. Just now, after re-plugging in power and observing the light changes as noted above, it came on and booted up. Battery at 16% now 18%. Have looked everywhere for specific model number for the dv7 but cannot find it on outside of case. There is a MS software sticker. But without opening the case I cannot find any other information. I know it was the newest model when purchased. Batt now 21%. Does this sound like a charger cord issue? Thanks for any response
