I personaly like the suggestion of stressing the safety factor of the failure. My previous recommendations were to begin posting negative reviews of this model on EVERY website that sells it (or even the updated version; people should know about HPs shady support policy before they buy) and to share links to this forum thread (and the dozens of other threads for the same issue) on their social media accounts.
Perhaps if enough negative feedback comes in on this issue HP will be forced to take responsibility for this product defect.

I have a 15inch hp spectre x360; brought it from PC World, UK in March this year and I took it in to be repaired just over 2 weeks ago. The team there said there was nothing wrong with it, when I claimed of one of the charging points to not working and the laptop overclocking.
He denied to sending it off and I had taken screenshots from speedfan to show it overclocking and I insisted to sending it off. He said as they more than likely won't touch it as there is nothing wrong with it, so it will be back with the week and just over two weeks later it has come back with a new motherboard. Luckily it was under guarantee but I have also had the same issue.

Here's how to escalate a situation!!!
DELETE MY ORIGINAL FORUM ACCOUNT.
My old account Tim0410 has been deactivated, so I cant reply to my original posts... The email that I used to create my account is no longer recognised. Someone had to do that...
You can see my post that I am replying to.
I had a phone call from someone in Singapore on Friday asking why I had not accepted the quote of $1100.
After a lengthy discussion that got nowhere, the operator yet again said she would speak to a supervisor.
I think the supervisor has decided to delete me..
Getting more and more unhappy

My Spectre X-360 laptop randomly shut down and wouldn't restart. No power light. No nothing. I called HP Support after filling out the informaiton on the support page. After waiting on hold for almost two hours, I got connected to a rep. He walked me through some troubleshooting to no avail. He then said it would need to be repaired - that they would need to replace the motherboard. Even though it was over a year out of warranty, he said they would cover the cost. They sent me a box FedEx overnight. I returned the laptop to them the next day and had it back, repaired and working good as new within 5 business days. No reload of Windows and all programs and data untouched. Other than the long hold time, excellent customer service.

I went through the HP support site. It gave me a case number and then i called the 800 number they gave me. As i said in my earlier post, they sent me a packing box, I sent it the the service center in California, they repaired it, and they fedex'd it back to me. No visits to any service centers. Not sure how i lucked out as it seems to appear.

Hp should recall this faulty laptop.

My HP spectre burnt up in March 2017, a month after the warranty expired.
HP refused to accept liability and charged me $460 to repair it.
The laptop still heats up during use, even after the repair, and I'm constantly afraid that it'll burn up again.
I strongly believe this laptop should be recalled and customers should be refunded their money.
Extremely disappointed that such an expensive computer is of such poor quality!
