I plugged in the computer and immediately the port started smoking and got hot. My daughter has the same computer and the charger won't work on hers either anymore. My original charger also wasn't working so I was using my daughters. Help! I'm under warranty but don't know where to start with figuring out what is really going on. FYI....ordered a new charger but not available for a few days. TIA

If the USB port started smoking, the issue is most likely to be internal. Internal as in on the system board.
