Lost 1800 watt Envy power supply. Used the wife’s lower wattage Envy power supply! Other than a slower performance, I saw no other effect’
What are the negative affects of this, other than speed?

@GGPE, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Envy device!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Using a lower wattage power supply for your HP Envy device than originally intended can have several potential negative effects beyond slower performance. Here are some considerations:
System Instability: A lower wattage power supply may not be able to provide the necessary power for all components to operate efficiently, leading to system instability, crashes, or unexpected shutdowns, especially under heavy load.
Limited Component Functionality: Some components may not receive adequate power, potentially disabling or limiting the functionality of certain hardware features, such as graphics cards, which might not operate at their full potential.
Overloading the Power Supply: Running a power supply close to or beyond its rated capacity can lead to overheating and reduced lifespan of the power supply unit, and could potentially damage other components in the system.
Reduced Battery Charging: In laptops, a power supply providing insufficient wattage can lead to slower battery charging times or the inability to maintain battery charge during operation.
Safety Hazards: Operating a power supply beyond its intended capacity could pose safety risks, including potential overheating and fire hazards.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
