Pavilion Dv6 Laptop
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I took apart my laptop to clean the loud fan and am having trouble getting it to power back on with the power button.  The cable ribbon connector seems to have been out of place and I can't figure out how to put it back in properly.

The only way I can get it to power on is by wiggling the top of ribbon with the botton side connected.  I know the top needs to touch the metal power to create the full circuit to spark the power, but I can't get it to work with the dashboard panel snapped back in place.

Below is the front panel, power is "top left" of the first pic and how the ribbon looked from the front:

Below is the backside of it and where I have no clue where the top end of the ribbon goes as it came off during my disassemble (it's now top right):

Any help?  If someone could show a pic of the back side of theirs I think I can figure out where to put my top end of the power cable ribbon.  Thanks!!!

Looks like page 86 shows the cable and the power button board-cable fastened under board. Still no help?

Thanks for the links.  I've seen these and a few other ones, but none of them ever show the back side of the dash panel to see how the power ribbon is connected on the top side.  Your link in the 2nd video does show it for a 0.5 seconds but it looks like a different set up with much longer connector ribbon.

There are dozens of different models in the DV6 series.  For instance there is the DV6 3000 series, etc. I had a DV6 7020 a couple of years ago.

What is full Model and/or Product number is your DV6? Should be on the Service Tag attached to bottom or under battery.

Hi there!  I did actually locate the HP Pavilion DV6 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide already from this site:

http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842252.pdf

However, the specific parts related to my question of how the ribbon is connected seems unsolved.

FYI:

Product: A7G76UA#ABC

Model: dv6-6c51ca

Ahh, so it goes there!  I didn't know to take it off to connect the ribbon.  I was just wiggling it to connect.

I'll have to try that when once my order of a new ribbon comes in  (i fried it when I touched a metal part with one end on the same circuit.  Thank god my motherboard was ok though!

I appreciate your help in trying to resolve my problem! Your are an angel!
