Hi!

Yesterday I was using my computer for a long time, listening to music or watching videos, besides doing a lot of internet browsing. At some point I heard some sparks coming from around the power port area and after that I saw smoke coming from the power port. The computer kept working normally. I immediately removed the charger, but a moment later the sparking continued. I immediately removed he battery. After some time had passed, I connected the charger and turned the computer on again, all worked normally and no sparking happened. Today I opened it up, there was no obvious burned area, no cables touching anywhere, the cooler fan was dusty and not rotating easily.  I cleaned it up and decided to do a test with just the charger. No problems here. Then I tried with the battery and then battery and charger. Still all seems fine. The cooler fan is running smoothly now.

My question is... could it have been overheat that caused the sparking? Or should the battery be considered short circuited? And most importantly... how safe is it to keep using the laptop?

Thanks for your help!
