Hi guys,

I started my computer today for the first time in about 4 days and within 20 mins after it started it shut off and I smelt something burning very briefly. I turned it back on later to try to test it and got this message after I ran the short test.

Hard Drive Short DST Check:FAILED

FAILURE ID: GXNEM3-81WALH-XD7WMF-60QE03

PRODUCT ID: M1W23UA#ABA

Hard Drive 1 - Primary HDD Bay*

Anyone know of a link where I can purchase the correct hard drive possibly from Newegg or anywhere else you may recommend?

According to the maintenance and service guide this laptop uses a standard 9.5 mm SATA drive. You could either replace with a SSD in that format or replace with another spinning platter drive.

Thanks for the quick response! I see you

mentioned it takes a standard 9.5mm SATA drive and that link you provided was for a 7mm SSD which was another option you said. I’m assuming if I go the route of purchasing the 1TB option in that link you provided, I shouldn’t have to purchase anything else to fix my issue? Just want to be sure before purchasing. I’m pretty mechanically inclined so replacing it hopefully won’t be too much of a hassle.
