My ProBook 450 G10 came with a 16 GB Samsung memory module (M471A2K43EB1-CWE) on slot 1 and I want to upgrade to 32 GB. On the Crucial site their 16 GB SODIMM CT16G4SFRA32A is declared compatible. I purchased one, but after installation the PC doesn't boot (some keyboard LED flash, then the blower accelerates, black screen, needs to be powered off by long pressure of on/off button).
I have tried removing the Samsung module and placing the Crucial alone on slot 1, but it still doesn't work (same behaviour as above). With the original configuration (Samsung only) the PC works again.
I wonder if this is a Crucial SODIMM fault (to be sent back for replacement) or an incompatibility.
The Samsung and the Crucial show almost identical specs (DDR4 3200 MHz, unbuffered, 1,2 V, CL22). Only difference the Samsung is declared rank 2R8, while the Crucial says 1Rx8 o 2Rx8 (should support both?).
Any hint or experience on the matter?
Thank you very much, Roberto

I tried that Crucial before, unfortunately it did not work and I could not return it (because I did not order from Crucial in the USA). At the end I had to order same Samsung RAM from Amazon and perfect now.
Hope this helps.
Regards.

When going above 8GB any kind of dual rank module will work. Crucial used to offer these dual rank modules (kit) on its page originally. These will work fine. So will anything else that's dual rank, like these crazy timed Mushkins on this thread. The G8/G9/G10 Probooks have the same RAM requirements and can go up to 64GB of RAM. They just don't like the 1R chip organization on the larger modules.
