Hi @Dare5,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP laptop shows a “non-HP battery detected” message after replacing the battery, and the system will not start normally. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this and what you can do.

Understand the warning message
HP laptops check battery authentication during startup.
A non-HP battery can trigger a warning and pause the boot process.

Try to continue past the warning
When the message appears, look for an option such as Press Enter to continue or Press F1.
Some models allow startup after acknowledging the warning.

Perform a hard power reset
Turn the laptop off and unplug the charger.
Hold the power button for 30–40 seconds, then reconnect the charger and try powering on again.

Check the battery installation
Power off the laptop and remove the battery if it is user-removable.
Reinstall the battery firmly and make sure the connector is fully seated.

Update or reset BIOS settings
Power on the laptop and enter BIOS/Setup (usually F10 or Esc at startup).
Load BIOS default settings, save, and exit, then restart the laptop.

Check BIOS version
Some older BIOS versions are stricter with third-party batteries.
If the laptop starts with the charger connected, check for a newer BIOS update once in Windows.

Test startup with charger only
If possible, remove the battery and connect only the AC adapter.
If the laptop starts this way, the issue is specific to battery compatibility.

Understand compatibility limitations
Certain HP models are designed to work only with HP-approved batteries.
Non-HP batteries may cause warnings, limited charging, or startup blocks.

I hope this helps.
