I've noticed that my CPU temperatures are going very high when i plugged the charger in. I've started monitoring the temperatures and the outcome is :

1. When the notebook is on battery everything is great. Temperatures between 38-48 C when idle and no more than 60-65 when loaded. the CPU frequency also is in normal rates.

2. When the notebook is charging, the temperatures in idle state begin to climb to 60-70 C and the fan starts working hard. The place above the fan starts to become very hot. The other odd thing is that the CPU frequency drops to 200MHz when idle. If I try to load the CPU it can reach temps around 80-90 C.

The Laptop is brand new.

When I turn off "Turbo boost" from the BIOS all of the problems, which i described when i charge the laptop, are gone. Everything is working fine. The temperatures drop down to 38-48 C in idle and 60-65 when loaded.

Is anything I can do to use the turbo boost function when i charge the laptop without the unhealthy temperature increase of the CPU?

Thank you in advance for your help!

I have investigated the issue a little bit further.

I left "Turbo boost" on and unchecked from the BIOS "Intel Dynamic Platfrom & Thermal Framework" and now the temps became more normal on AC Power. The "200MHz" drop is gone too. The frequency now reaches peaks to 3100MHz sometimes. I tried to install the drivers fro DPTF from the HP's site, but it did not change the affect that the function has on heating up the CPU.

Can I do something else or just leave the function unchecked?
