Hello!!

I have the following problem: My computer seems to be charging. The battery is fine, as it shows 100% when turned on, and it drains quite quickly.

The problem started with the old battery. It was bad because it was internal. I started using my laptop without a battery for about 15 days, but suddenly it was starting to have trouble turning on. I put in a new battery, the one I mentioned above. The problem is that when I try to turn it on, only the LED on the right side lights up for 3 seconds and then turns off. The fan doesn't start or anything.

I don't know what the problem could be.

@Ebola09, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your Computer Battery and Power Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It seems that your computer is experiencing issues with the battery and power system. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

Check Battery Installation:

  • Ensure that the battery is installed correctly in the laptop.
  • Verify that the battery is the correct type for your computer.

AC Power Adapter:

  • Check if the AC power adapter is properly connected to the laptop and a working electrical outlet.
  • Ensure the power adapter is not damaged or defective.

Reset the Computer:

  • Sometimes, powering issues can be fixed by resetting the computer. Turn it off completely and then turn it back on.

Try Booting Without the Battery:

  • Remove the battery and try to boot the laptop with just the AC power adapter. This helps determine if the issue is with the battery or the laptop itself.

Check for Indicator Lights:

  • Pay attention to any indicator lights. If the LED lights up but the computer does not start, it might be signaling an issue with the power delivery or internal components.

Replace Battery:

  • If the battery is new, ensure it is not faulty. Sometimes, new batteries can also be defective.

System Diagnostics:

  • Run a system diagnostic tool to check for any hardware failures or issues with the battery management system.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be a hardware problem, such as an issue with the motherboard or power delivery system.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
